Valle Verzasca is located in Canton Ticino, in Locarno’s district, and it is a perfect destination for adventure lovers. We visited Verzasca’s Valley in August, when it was swarming with tourists. Its main characteristics are the green and clear waters of Verzasca’s river. The most famous point of the river is known as “jump bridge” and it is a typical medieval construction made of stones. The landscape around is incredibly beautiful and stunning as the river flows through an uncontaminated and natural scenery between white and dressed stones and the mountains. The emerald water is really inviting, but don’t let you deceive by it because it is really cold, so pay attention and think twice before having a swim! The current is very slow here although you should always be very careful when entering the river. Verzasca’s river is known for the water sports, like canyoning, kayak and diving but it is important to always pay attention to the warning signs posted locally.
Another attraction is one of the highest dams in the world (220 m), built between 1960 and 1965. If you are fearless and audacious you can try the world’s second highest commercial bungee jump. It is possible to jump between April and October and reservations are recommended. We got goose bumps just by watching the people jumping into the void!
Stay tuned…the best is yet to come!
